Herbert Schubert, one of Richard Wolf GmbH’s first managing directors, was dedicated to making the company a truly international organization. With American surgeons’ growing interest in Richard Wolf instrumentation, Herbert initiated the company’s first step toward global expansion with the establishment of the Richard Wolf Medical Instruments Corporation in 1972. This new US facility was based in the Midwest to provide a centralized hub with better distribution channels and staffed with a full-service repair team to reduce prolonged overseas repairs. Originally located in Rosemont, Illinois, the highly successful venture moved to the current 250,000 sq. ft. building in Vernon Hills, Illinois, two decades later. Richard Wolf Medical Instruments is now the company’s largest subsidiary and home to manufacturing, sales, marketing, repair, customer service, and administrative teams, as well as Academy Prima Vista, a state-of-the-art lab and training center.
