TEM (Transanal Endoscopic Microsugery) was the first endoscopic operation in Visceral Surgery. Since 1983 clinical application is performed.

Today TEM is worldwide accepted as the most precise technique for endorectal operations and clinical results are far superior to any other surgical or endoscopic technique. Indications were in the starting phase focussed on large sessile adenomas, today early cancer (T1 low risk) also shows better results after TEM.
