Vascular Surgery Endoscopic Subfascial Dissection of Perforating veins - ESDP -

10 – 15 % of adults suffer from extensive varicosis of the legs. In 16 % of these cases, one of the causes is insufficiency of the perforating veins.

More than 90% of these insufficient perforating veins are located in the lower leg. Only precise dissection of these veins can reliably prevent recurrences. The subfascial elimination fo the insufficient perforating veins in the treatment of primary varicosis and postthrombotic or trophic skin disturbances as a result of varicosis is accepted as the most effective therapeutic principle.

In keeping with the principle of minimally invasive surgery, we use an endoscopic technique, that allows all the perforating veins in the lower leg to be coagulated and dissected under direct vision with little trauma.

The instrument set for endoscopic subfascial dissection of the perforating veins includes cold-light operating tubes in various lengths and diameters, through which an operating telescope (PANOVIEW operating telescope) is inserted. The telescope has a working channel for auxiliary instruments such as the endoscopic bipolar coagulation forceps and the endoscopic scissors.
