The gasless TEM system

Contrary to the present high-end TEM version, the gasless version works, without any CO2 for gas distension. To turn the argument on its head, it means
that the combination pump and insufflator unit 2232,201 with all its accessories are not required. This has the advantage that the costs can be reduced and that the complex tube sets are no longer required. By using a special tissue retractor within the tube, the correspondingly needed working space is created for the hand instruments.

An "operating window", which has simply been cut from the tube used previously, also adds to more working space. The stereo endoscope is not used at all in the gasless TEM version. A documentation endoscope only is used for visualisation. This new documentation endoscope is based on the same optical system as the previous documentation endoscope, however the eyepiece is angled upwards in the opposite direction than that of the original in order to have more free space in which to guide the instruments. In the high-end version of the TEM, the stereo endoscope is the highest cost factor – thus the costs are dramatically reduced in this system as well.

The advantages of the gasless system:

• Easy conversion to the high end version by purchasing the stereo endoscope and the combination pump and insufflator.
• Entry-level set for hospital with a low budget and small or uncertain numbers of patients.
• Alternative for all those who are still using the retractor – especially for proctorectoscopy for doctors with private practices
