Endocrine SurgeryAside from open surgical procedures, thyroid gland disorders are treated with minimally invasive, video assisted thyroid surgery. Interventions on the thyroid are among the most frequent surgical interventions. Favourable cosmetic results can be obtained through the use of a new endoscopic procedure. Instrument set for minimally invasive video-assisted thyroidectomy and parathyroidectomy (MIVAT / MIVAP) The innovative and user-friendly instrument set for minimally invasive, video-assisted thyroidectomy and parathyroidectomy was developed by Richard Wolf in the highest quality and is being used internationally in thyroid surgery, with excellent surgery results. Interventions on the thyroid leave a noticeable scar in the frontal throat region. A new endoscopic procedure allows the avoidance of large cuts, resulting in better cosmetic results. Using a video endoscopic view, a short cut is made precisely on the skin line, and the thyroid lobe is freed and removed through it. Onscreen, the structures appear in an image which is strongly magnified by the endoscope; this, of course, is an enormous advantage for protection of the vocal chord nerves. |
