In tomorrow's modern OR there will be a multitude of highly developed specialized devices for many different applications, such as endoscopic camera systems, HF devices, insufflators, operating tables and lights. Controlling all these different devices means increased stress and workload for the surgeons and the operating staff. This may lead to unsatisfactory results. In the development of its products Richard Wolf therefore focuses on easy and self-explanatory device operation.
The solution – Central system and device management
Top functionality of the individual devices combined with easy operation of the overall system is what CORE focuses on. This is achieved by a simple intuitive guided menu. All devices combined in the network appear on the monitor in the form of a uniform user menu. The symbols usually used to represent the device functions on the touchscreen were replaced by simple designations in the language selected.
The unparalelled advantage of this solution is best demonstrated the "voice control" option. The designations of the device functions on the screen are simply spoken clearly by the operator for voice-controlled operation of the system. The speaker-independent voice control logic used represents the state of the art in top technology, guaranteeing efficient and direct control of the devices such as ENDO camera, light and operating table from the sterile area of the OR.

A further building block of CORE is the Medical Image Management System (PACS system).
Telemedicine – Training and consultation
The introduction of the video conference and telecommunication solution opened up an additional field of use – telemedicine. Video conference equipment allows the exchange of experience between colleagues of the same medical discipline or consultation of medical experts and can be used just as efficiently for the training and further education of physicians and students. It guarantees both in-hospital transmission from the OR to the conference room or to large-screen congress projections and live communication between hospitals. In the background a combined media control system provides the necessary video routing control, video conference, and peripheral components such as OR lighting.
