Richard Wolf presents two new ERAGON bipolar grasping forceps

Knittlingen in September 2009. – Effective and safe bipolar instruments are essential prerequisites for therapeutic laparascopy.
Richard Wolf – one of the world’s leading suppliers of endoscopic systems – worked closely together with Velen gynecologist Dr. Thomas Haßkamp to develop two new bipolar instruments. On the one hand, they are ideal for bipolar tubal sterilization, while also being ideal for other laparoscopic procedures.
The new ERAGON bipolar instrument allows the surgeon to apply significant compression of the tissue during the coagulation procedure. The sterilization grasping forceps incorporate a pin integrated within the forceps jaw and an opening located opposite. This design enables the tube to be positioned correctly in the forceps even when the tissue is being pulled. The width of the jaw sections is designed to accommodate the maximum possible 5 mm working trocars. The straight design without tapering ensures maximum possible uniform tissue compression.
The recommendations of the Study Group for Gynecological Endscopy (AGE) are met by the application of the new coagulation grasping forceps after Haßkamp.
Another forceps with similar attributes – without pin – was developed for dissection, exposure and coagulation. The convex-concave shape of the jaw section, and the distal curvature at the tip permit very precise operation. Active grasping, good coagulation properties, and enhanced tissue compression are the key features of the new instrument. The robust technology of the ERAGON Bipolar Generation combine with the ergonomic design of the handle to make these forceps an exceptionally effective investment for the future. Automatic locks permit easy handling by support personnel during cleaning, sterilization and assembly.
